Help Refurbished Nexus 5 not showing latest android L update available?

Ps300300

Lurker
Hello Everybody,
I am new to this community. I have owned a Nexus 5 for a year and it the recent weeks the battery has got worse and worse. So last week I decided to give Google a call and see if I can get a replacement. Everything went well and I just received my refurbished phone today.
The phone was only on Android 4.4.2 as expected and it was available to update to 4.4.4, so I did that and then I expected to see next an Android L update but it just says "Your system is up to date" and it is only on 4.4.4 ...

My old Nexus 5 could update to Android L so I am clueless to why it is saying this.

Could someone please help?

Thanks
Peter

I believe the update was removed from Google's server's (it was for other Nexus devices). A staged rollout for 5.0.1 is already underway, so you shouldn't have to wait much longer.

The 5.0.1 update just started to rollout today. You should receive it soon, though how soon is a matter of chance due to how Google does it's gradual rollout.

I recently bought Nexus 5 one week back, As of now i didn't receive OTA lollipop update (Hyderabad, India), I tried several times in system updates, it shows 4.4.4 and system is up to date. I am eagerly waiting for the Lollipop update, What might be the issue?
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thank you :)

I'm in the same position - my 1 week old N5 has not yet received a Lollipop update. I presume that if I'm patient, I'm sure to get an OTA update soon enough, yes?

Over what period of time do Google normally complete a rollout to a model of this age?

Is already been rolled out. If the past is any indicator it usually rolls around every two or three weeks.

Well, i waited NINE MONTHS before i said help, so you do the math. I won't wait that long when the next update comes out, you can be sure of that.:p

9 months!?! With L only having been available a few weeks, I presume that was for one of the Kitkat updates... Anyway, although I'll be very happy when the update does come my way, I 'm in no great rush as I'm still in my N5 honeymoon period :-) and am loving the phone with 4.4.4. Looking forward to some OTA love from Google in due course.

I'm secretly hoping that the "delay" is due to a new cut being produced, with a fix for the L memory leak issue, and that my OTA will then be for 5.0.3 (or whatever) with that fix when it does eventually come.

It started with Kitkat, but i started seeing the 5.0 updates a few months ago. Called Google, checked my imei, and was told that i would get the 5.0 "very soon". I never did. Then i started seeing the 5.0.1 come out to the U.S., and various other countries throughout the world, and i just lost it. I love the phone, and it really is the best phone that i've ever owned, but nobody will ever sell me on "timely updates". I guess that there are just some imei numbers that Google fails to support.

Hi, there's no Android 5.0 OTA update for my Nexus 5, to do with carrier? I have 2 sim cards, Vodafone and Telstra, is it to do with the carriers?

Did you purchase the phone through the carrier? I thought all Nexus updates come from Google (except for the Gnex/Verizon debacle).

If you want to move to 5.01 right away you can always flash the factory image here.

Personally, i would love to know how Google does their update rollouts. Is it alphabetical by country, last name of owner, planet that the owner resides on, or what? When the next update comes out, i will count the days...until i have to flash it manually! If you want the Google OTA, you'd be better off using the Force.:p

I have read that Telstra was blocking the update on devices on their network regardless of where you bought it but swapping in the voda sim should take care of it.

I'm on telstra myself and I flashed the factory image for 5.0 and then the 5.0.1 update showed up as an OTA, not sure if flashing the factory image bypassed the block or what though. I'm rooted anyway so the OTA failed but I flashed the 5.0.1 factory image myself and now I'm on the latest Dirty Unicorns test build anyway.

Flashing the factory images yourself is pretty straight forward so I'd recommend that if you don't want to wait around.

I have two Nexus 5s that are still waiting for 5.anything. Having already updated my Nexus 4 to Lollipop a while ago, I really don't want to go back to Key Lime Pie by switching to my new Nexus 5. So it sits on my desk, checking for updates every day.

Use the Force to update.:p

I decided to sideload the OTA 5.0.0 update, following the excellent instructions at http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/b...-on-your-nexus-device-download-links-included. Interestingly, after I booted into 5.0.0 for the first time, I was immediately offered the 5.0.1 OTA update, so it's as though my phone was in the update queue but somehow got one update ahead of where it should have been. Anyway, am happily rocking 5.0.1 now and getting to know the new features.

Bro I bought nexus 5 almost abt 20 days before but not getting an lollipop ota update i've visited to lg service centre they said Google has stopped the ota update due to bug's issue they said that the ota update will be resumed as soon as the bugs are solved so m to waiting for the ota update from Google......right now m still running with 4.4.4 KitKat.......

Key Lime Pie? You mean KitKat right?

Anyway, just flash the updates if you're impatient, otherwise it can't really be bothering you all that much.

You've got to flash Key Lime Pie before you can update to Lemon Meringue Pie. ;)

And just to be safe, do it on March 14th at 9:26 am. ;) ;)

y'know ... on 3.14.15 9:26

Seriously, trying to understand Google's roll-out schedule will only give you a headache. If you haven't received an OTA by now, you probably should just go ahead and flash the factory image and be done with it.

I refuse to use the new name. Google sold out to da man when they renamed it Kit Kat (and besides, Key Lime Pie tastes much better).
You're right, it's not bothering me much. I did put a little effort into sideloading, but couldn't get adb to recognize the device (USB debugging was enabled), I'll try again when I get bored.

Oh, and yeah, Lemon Meringue Pie is even better than Key Lime Pie. The naming guy at Google obviously has poor taste.
