Regular Google Voice and Straight Talk question

shortduck

Newbie
So I will activate Straight Talk today.
My question is if I post my number to GV, I can add my forwarding number to it. No problem.

But...
For outgoing calls,
1. if I use phone, then my new number (ST number) will be displayed.
2. If I use GV will this be a VOIP call ?

Thanks for looking.

If you call directly from your phone, the caller id will be your st number. If using gv, it'll be your gv number.

Gv is not voip, your phone will call another number and they will route it to whoever you're trying to call. It'll use your minutes but st has unlimited anyway.

Ok, thanks for your reply.

When you install the Google Voice app on your phone, one of the things it asks is "Do you want to use Google Voice for outgoing calls?" Just answer "always" to it and then pretty much all calls will automatically use your Google Voice account and phone number.
