Sad that Epstein of Welcome back Kotter died Thursday 1/26/2012 of a heart attack.

I dont remember the show when it was new but watched all its reruns years later.

I do remember the show from when it first ran, and even had the Sweat Hog tube socks! In my school, if you hadn't watched, and could discuss in depth any particular episode, you could pretty much count on a recess beat down.

RIP Epstein, and forever "Up your nose with a rubber hose."

I always watched the show come on but never watched the show itself. It and MASH were both comedies that I probably would've enjoyed but just missed em due to when I was born. I'd consider watching them now, but I'm betting all the shows I've watched up to this point have either synthesized our outright stolen the shtick used on these shows that watching them for the first time I'd probably find them cliche and tired. Although, I must admit, I've watched an episode here and there just for the peek at the era.


As a kid however, I did find the theme song to be comforting and catchy...

Wow TxGoat, what a nice touch. just listening to that song brought back some good times and memories...even the video captured the world as it was .

You're right, according to todays 'standards' and 'shock factors', shows back then probably would bore some today but these are the classics that paved the way for many spin-offs resulting in many shows we may be watching today.

I thought I replied to this but I guess I didn't. Sorry to hear about Epstein...I grew up with this show from back in the day. So far this year, we're losing alot of stars.
