Reminder and Timer Issue

Hello,
I am new to android, but I have been able to fix most of my problems through apps or tasker. I have to problems that I have not been able to find a way to fix.

1. Google reminders do not trigger if the screen is off. They do not appear in the notifications area or anything, the time passes and there is nothing. If the screen is on, even at the lock screen the notification pops up, but not when the screen is off. How can I fix this?

2. The voice commands for the timer do not work. I am using 4.4.2 KitKat, and all the research I've done said this problem should have been solved. I can tell the device to set a timer for X minutes and it will open the timer, but the timer stays at 00:00 and it does not start. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just hope for the next OS update to fix this?

Thanks for your help.

I don't use voice commands, so can't really comment on the second one.

On the first, by Google reminders do you mean calendar appointments, or Google Now? (The question is rhetorical - I realise you can't answer unless you register. Sorry!). Calendar reminders certainly should, and do on every device I've used (I also use an app called Calendar Snooze to make them more prominent, repeating and snoozeable). I don't use Google Now, but I'm sure that should work with the screen off, as it's kinda pointless otherwise.

Sorry I can't help more, but maybe someone else will be able to. It would be easier if we knew which phone you had as well as what OS version, as software can vary between manufacturers (each has to build android for their own devices, and many make changes or additions in the process).

Bearing in mind that my HTC One is running 4.4.3 I can certainly confirm the point made by Hadron about calendar reminders and add that the same does indeed apply to Google Now reminders. I can also use voice command to set a timer which counts down then triggers the notification sound on reaching zero - the count down and notification trigger apply with screen on or off.

I can only reiterate the final comments made by Hadron.
