Remote is not working on android tv box

I have an android tv box Internet tv smart system 4.0. The remote is not working so I have no way to turn the box on. Any suggestions?

Is there not a power switch on the system?
Does the remote need to be paired?
Just curious, does the remote require batteries to need to be charged? Is the remote turned on?
