Two ways:

1) flash a different ROM.

Basic procedure is to copy the ROM zip file onto your sd card, back up your apps and data (e.g. using Titanium Backup), boot into recovery, take a backup from recovery (in case anything goes wrong installing the new ROM), do a factory reset, use recovery to install the new ROM, reboot phone, reinstall your backup app and restore your stuff from the backup (but not any system settings).

2) Flash a set of official HTC software: find the correct ROM Update Utility (RUU) for your phone model/branding, download this to a Windows PC, boot into fastboot mode (go into bootloader and select fastboot from the menu), connect to the PC via USB, run the RUU .exe on the PC. Back up your data first, as this will do a factory reset in the process, but don't use Titanium because you won't be able to run that after the RUU without re-rooting the phone.

The first solution is if you still want to be rooted afterwards, the second if you want to return to official, unrooted software.

In either case you need to find software for your specific phone model. There can occasionally be device-specific quirks to this process, but to advise in more detail we'd need to know what device you have. So if you want more specific advice, please post again, either here or in the main forum.

Good luck :)
