Help Remove hold (pause) icon during call?

Hello all, I am new to android and I have a small issue that is quite annoying. During a call, in the call screen there is a hold (pause) button that I accidentally press very often, and the call gets held, as it should. I know that the phone should lock the screen when I bring it close to my ear, and it does, but somehow I still press it sometimes. I don't know if the problem is that I separate the phone from my face more than I should.. The question is: is there any way to configure that screen so that I can remove the "pause" button? An app that lets me do this, maybe?

I have already disabled call holding with my carrier, but that does not prevent holding it from my phone.

You'd need to modify the system app to do that.

You could try a different dialer, but I'm pretty sure you get the same in-call screen anyway so don't think it would help.

Yeah the easiest way is to just keep your face closer, if, like you said, the proximity sensor works fine
