Remove HTC Lockscreen without rooting?

Sorry if i post in wrong section, but is it possible? The slider bar is really big and gets in the way of most wallpapers.

If it matters, I have a HTC Legend, still stuck in 2.1

P.S. For some reason, widgetlocker lags really bad on me, So is there another way?
