Remove Messenger update notification

I purposely use an older version of Facebook Messenger because the current one runs too slow on my device. But there is always a message on top saying I should update it. Any way to remove it?

Since the message in internal to the app, I don't think there is a way to get rid of it. Wish there was a better answer.

You don't actually need the messenger app installed to use messenger.
