Remove Popup Search Field?

Having a little trouble with a setting I accidentally changed or because of an update. For the past 6 months or so, whenever I click on many "search" areas (like when searching for a contact in your contact list), a new blank search field pops up in addition to the keyboard . This is maddening especially when there's information on the screen that gets covered by the new search window that you need .

Any help is appreciated.

Please elaborate further on the type of device and model that you are having issues with so AF members can help you on how to solve it.

I looks as if that's not the launcher that's stock with your device nor the keyboard.

Correct. I narrowed it down to a setting in that particular keyboard (although what setting it is in the keyboard still elludes me).

Workaround found. I'll withdraw my post.
