Help remove the camera shutter sound

Anybody know how to remove the camera shutter sound on the G2?

I replaced the "/system/media/audio/camera_click.ogg" but it didn't work.
Might be something with that the camera lets you chose between four shutter sounds.

I tried searching files for "shutter" and "camera", but no luck...

never really looked into it. I just got in the habit of turning my sounds down using mine (though I can't remember if that worked stock or not). I'm sure tasker could work too for it, when launching the app, have it switch to silent mode first.

Are you trying to not hear the shutter sound when taking a picture? There's a setting in the camera for that. Unless I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish...

There's a setting in the LG camera app to change it or turn it off completely. It's in the app, Settings - Shutter Sound.
Are you trying to change it through Root Explorer?

No, not on my camera there isn't...

I tried to change it with a file explorer, yes.
Could I maybe try to run a debug, then start the camera to see wich files are accessed?

Do you have a G2 also? Because I can only chose between Tone 1, Tone 2, Tone 3 and Tone 4. None of them are silent.

Can you show me screenshot, or a photo, I couldn't screenshot while in camera.

I read the reason for it was that there were privacy laws that required the camera to have a shutter sound.

On my stock VZW G2 If you are using stock camera app. Turn off IA then a gear will appear at the top of the screen with other Icons. Click on the Gear, scroll down to shutter sound turn to off. If you use IA turn back on.

Crap, it's different on my phone...

Check attachment... (can't screenshot in camera)

Hey, sometimes I should pay attention when I fix thread titles.:o

It occurs to me that in some countries it is illegal to use a digital camera with no shutter sound, so make sure you are keeping it legal.:)

Yeah, it's available on my Verizon variant:
Also, this is a sideloaded .apk so it's slightly different from the stock LG camera app. For whatever reason, it's giving me the AOSP camera "sound" when I take a pic even though it's set to no sound.
Regardless, it's possible where you purchased your phone that the ability to disable the camera sound is not possible for legality issues or what not.

Hehe, I don't care about that. I live in Norway.
It's a stupid law, if I want to creep around with my camera I could just turn off the sound anyways :S

What country is this that you can't take s screen shot or turn off the camera sound?

Anyway, if you want quickly disable sounds, just turn on quiet mode.

I'm not sure about screenshots, but as far as shutter sounds for the camera, one of them is South Korea, which tends to have a heavy influence on HTC, LG, and Samsung.

Norway, but I certainly hope we don't have such stupid laws!
And I don't want to just quickly... :p
