Help Remove Unwanted Stuff

Hannya

Lurker
Hello,

I would like to know if there's a way to remove unwanted stuff from a Samsung Galaxy Ace. I don't want to mess with ROOT and ROM stuff so there is no warranty void, I just updated it from Android 2.2.1 to 2.3.4 with Samsung Kies.

I've searched app cleaners on android market but people say that the unremoveable apps can only be removed if the phone is rooted, but I also read that you loose your warranty if you do this. Since my phone is brand new and still has a 1 year warranty, I do not wish to mess with that.

Is there any other way to "reset" the phone and get rid of those undesirable phone company stuff like "welcome screens", apps, etc?

Another thing, I would also to know how to remove the company's animation logo upon booting and turning off the phone. I'm using Super Manager and it doesn't seem to have the bootanimation.zip that I read about in customization.

I don't want to have other animations, just remove the one that it has now, to make it "cleaner", so any suggestions on that would also be appreciated.

I rooted the phone since the unrooting is pretty simple and removed most unwanted apps already, since a long time of researching showed me that without rooting it is very difficult to do what I wanted, but the curiosity remains, if there's a way to remove those pesks apps without rooting the phone, I'd still like to know.

But for now, let's get rid of the animations please!

Now that you have rooted, grab a root explorer app from the market like astro manager/es file explorer/root explorer. Then browse to /data/local and delete the file "bootanimation.zip" (may or may not be present). Then browse to /system/media and delete both the samsung files from there.
On the next reboot you won't see any animation. Just a black screen.
:D

Ok, I deleted both samsung files and the intro disappeard, but the sound that it played still plays, and the turning off animation is still there (with the same sound, the animation is the intro one but backwards).

bootanimation.zip wasn't there though.

Found some interesting files, poweron.ogg, sutdown.qmg
Almost everything gone, but the sound when I turn it on still persists.

Got it, there was this file etc/poweron.ogg, Sper Manager wasn't able to delete it, but Terminal User did the job fine.
