Root Removing blur with Fission ROM

mrbobbyc

Lurker
Hi all,

I have a rooted Droid 2 and I want to install a Fission ROM on it and get rid of all the blur crap. I've read that Titanium Backup can be used to backup apps and data, but I don't want to backup any bloatware or anything blur and have it when I load the Fission ROM.

My questions are: should I only backup certain things so that so that they won't be there when I load the new ROM and restore w/ Titanium? Or are some of the blur things still needed w/ the Fission ROM? If so, what things? Should I back up all user apps and system data and hope that the Fission ROM will simply not load any of the blur crap even though it is backed up?

Sorry if I'm being naive or anything, I'm new to this. My main goal is to have vanilla froyo without blur and bloatware on my Droid 2.

Backup apps + data, not system data and you will be fine.
Your apps may be 114 and your system data will be higher, maybe 200. Backup the lower number.

Thanks both of you for the helpful replies. I'm now running the latest Fission ROM and my phone is running twice as fast and smooth as before and my battery life is noticeably better, as well.

I'd say that, in my opinion, a Droid 2 with this ROM is the best android phone you can have right now.:)

Can someone post up a current link for the latest Fission DL? I have searched, and only come up with broken links.

Thank you!

Easiest thing to do is go to www.teamdefuse.com and download the latest Fission Rom Manager...Then you can just upgrade through that whenever a new Fission Release comes out.

If you make a small donation you can get the Full Fission Rom Manager (not sure off hand the differences, but I figured either way, it was worth a couple bucks since the ROMs are great).

I think the full receives some test versions that aren't released to all till they know it works properly, other than that I don't think there is much of a difference.
