Root Removing Clockwork Mod on a Nexus One 2.3.4

Hi all, I have a lengthy problem in need of solving. While there are many questions already out there with this title, this one seems to be unique in that I do not want to have a rooted phone at the end - it is my desire simply to return to stock.

I bought a Nexus One last year from Vodafone, and eventually realised when I hadn't got the Gingerbread update after months of waiting that, rather than running vanilla android as promised, my phone was actually running Vodafone's own clone that would never be updated!

To cut a long story short, in my quest to return to stock I followed a guide that had me using SuperOneClick to root the phone, flash the genuine stock ROM from Google through Clockwork Mod and then unroot it. Job done - simple.

UNFORTUNATELY as I quickly realised, I still have Clockwork installed instead of Amon and 2.3.4 is immune to SuperOneClick. This has left me with a phone that can, once again, not be updated by any means other than manual intervention (indeed, I have not even received the new Market, though this may well be a separate issue). This is obviously not ideal, as I am far from being an expert and all I wanted in the first place was to have the phone as it was intended from Google, and I certainly didn't want to go through the risks of any kind of complex process in my inept hands.

What I would like, ideally, is a simple method to get Amon back and to allow me to receive updates once again, preferably with a phone which, after I have finished with it, is again unrooted and to all intents and purposes as its Maker intended. So far, after much searching, I have found nothing that can solve this issue. Can anyone help?

(Also, as a side note, does anyone have any idea why I don't have the new Market? Could it be to do with the bootloader as well? Perhaps because I live in the UK? Who knows? It's a mystery!)

Thanks in advance!
