removing date on pictures

when I take a picture, there is the date/time of the pic. when I download it onto my computer, it comes on there as well. how do i remove this?

Don't about what phone you have, but on my HTC EVO, when in the camera, on the left there are settings and there is a time stamp setting you can toggle off and on.
 
ok, so i can turn it off then on, and it will still have the timestamp saved for my photos, right? (and i have the aria ;)
