Help Removing Hard drive from HTC One X?

So it's a long story, but in short my htc got wet and then melted over a vacation. Just plain bad luck.. What I need to know is if any one knows where the physical storage Is located on these things when you open them up? My master plain is to trade in the broken phone for a new one via Bestbuy insurance and see if I can't wire in the new HD. The data was basically a year of my life and not backed up considering how my motherboard on my home PC was fried and never made the time to set up cloud storage.. Anybody familiar with the hardware on these? The internals are still looking good and if I could plant the old hard drive in a new phone it'd be essential. :D Just point me in the right direction. It's a sad situation, but a bit fun at the same time -relish a challenge.

I'm a software guy not hardware, but that plan sounds like a sure fire way to kill your new phone

And you definitely would not be able to make a warranty claim afterwards!

The internal storage isn't actually a disk, it's a chip - like an SD chip - that's soldered to / built into the board. Chances are that when you detach the chip from the new phone, you're going to destroy adjacent connections or parts. Plus, when you remove the chip from the old phone, chances are you're going to destroy it anyway.

I could be wrong .. but it's a lot of money to be gambling with!

The phone screen is gone ha, you can see where it looks like some of the binding melted into it.. Not really a chance of powering up anymore. But i heard that the metals that make up data chips can withstand a lot higher temps than what melted the phone. If Siempretuna is right about it being soldered onto the bored, i guess i'll have to get over it. As for messing up the newer phone, i've opened these up before and i'm confident that if the chip was indeed removable I could install it with minimal damage to the case. if not, Bestbuy's insurance lets me trade them in multiple times for about 20$ each cycle, pretty sweet deal actually. I just may have to say goodbye, which breaks my heart simply because of the memories on this particular phone. I'm using an old iphone 3 at the moment and feel severely disabled and can only take so much more before I trade in for a new One X. If no new info comes up by tomorrow I'll say goodbye, trade in the phone and close the thread. Replies so far much appreciated

No "if" about it.

Everything on the motherboard is surface mount technology - I promise that you're not going to unsolder anything without significant damage.
