Help Removing Micro USB input takes a lot of force - normal?

LHR

Newbie
Hi all. I just got my first Android device and I'm really enjoying it.

When I try to unplug the micro USB power cable, it takes quite a bit of force to do it.

Is this normal or should I use a different cable? Is this just how new micro USB cables are? I don't want to break my brand new phone!

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums!

You're right, last year HTC went to a cable that fits very snug and does fight back when new. Over time, it will loosen just a bit and feel more normal, but I decided to simply use a more normal feeling cable on mine rather than break in the cable connector as I did with the phone before that.

If you want to stick with the stock cable, a very slight rocking side to side (along the width of the connector, NOT up/down) will help. Don't rock a lot nor vigorously. After a bit of that, that metal shell on the connector will cooperate more.

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the quick response! As long as it's normal, I'll let it loosen up on its own.

I'm sure I'm going to be spending a lot more time browsing these forums so thanks for the welcome.
