Replacing my phone without losing unlimited data

So today was the day that I dropped my phone and the screen shattered. I am still grandfathered in to Verizon's unlimited data plan with my HTC Droid Incredible 2 (3G) and am not eligible for a new every 2 until May. Since I'm still perfectly happy with my "old school" :p 3G Droid, I would love to just replace it with the same phone without having to change my plan. Is this possible?

I see used phones on Ebay listed at 99 cents that just don't have the SD card. Can I just buy one is move my SD card over? Is there a SIM card too and/or would I need to contact Verizon/would they let me do this?

I saw Costco has the phone on closeout for a penny, but it's online only and when you put it in you cart it requires you to switch to a limited data plan and renew your contract.

I do have an email into HTC to see the cost of just replacing my screen, but I imagine that it isn't cheap so am exploring other options. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I understand (I haven't used Verizon in a while), you move the sim from your current phone to the new one and keep your current plan. You can also move your sd card. All your con5acts and any apps/pictures/etc should move with the cards
 
Verizon does not use SIM cards as it is on CDMA technology. Only AT&T and t-mobile use SIMs.

You will need a phone assigned to the Verizon network. You can buy one on ebay, etc. Just make sure it is a Verizon phone. Then take the phone to Verizon and tell them to assign your number to the new phone (cause the other was destroyed).

Or you can go to Verizon and ask them what they can do for a replacement for you. Just tell them you don't want to modify your contract at all. Perhaps you can get your new one early.

Either way you need to go into Verizon and have them assign your number to the phone you will be using. Also, make sure the new one has an SD card slot - as some will not.
 
Thanks for the responses so far. It looks like my phone can be purchased used/refurbished on ebay for around $70-80 so I'm going to wait to see what HTC says the repair cost for a new screen would be and then make a decision. I presume the repair cost will be higher (and would leave me without a phone for longer), but I dont' want to bid until I'm certain.

If anyone has gone that route and knows the cost, please let me know. I'm not sure if I'll hear from them tomorrow because of the holiday.
 
You can replace your phone as many times as you want, the only thing that will cost you your unlimited data is if you upgrade the line that it is on(using that line's upgrade not another line's) by buying a phone at subsidized pricing. As long as you don't do that, you should be golden :)
 
I buy my phones on EBay all the time. I use 3 particular sellers, depending on what I'm looking for. Most recently I've been using Gazelle's store. I switch phones quite a bit. 3g to 4g and back. Gazelle guarantees clean ESN's and I've not had any problems with them. I also use Bid Allies and Mistys electronics for older phones.

I'll try Gazelle to buy a new phone, but I'll NEVER trade mine in. They rip you off worse than GameStop.

Is there anywhere to sell a damaged phone? Gazelle won't buy a damaged phone unfortunately. My phone is still completely functional, I'm actually using it in the interim, albeit carefully so I don't cut myself. :P
