Replacing SD card on Android 2.3

Hello,

Not sure this thread is in the right section, but hey, it is (partly) about apps.

Currently I am running a ZTE Blade with Android 2.3 and a 2GB uSD card.
I want to upgrade to a 8GB uSDHC card, but I have a question:

Can I just copy the entire content from the old card to the new card, or will I loose data then? Since a number of apps are moved to the SD card (using the default Android 2.3 settings menu)

If not, could anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Jeroen

Yes. Make a new folder on your computer, copy EVERYTHING from the old card into that folder. Then put the new card into the phone, go to menu-settings-sd storage, and format the card. Then copy everything back onto the card. No you will not lose you apps, as long as you copy everything to and from.

Worked like a charm!

Just unmounted the SD Card
put it in my pc through an adapter and card reader
copied everything on my hard drive
plugged the new SD card in my phone
went to settings
already showed up, didn't have to format at all
plugged phone with usb in pc
copied everything to de SD (there were already some android things on sd card, had them merged)
and turned usb storage off

Done :-)

Thanks for the help!

Great info. Thanks. My laptop has a built in SD card reader. It's nice to know that it will be easy to expand. Also, this has me thinking about backing up to my PC.
