Repurpose Straight Talk Phone?

Grrrrrrrrr

Newbie
A freind just gave me a new LG straight talk phone with 2 weeks left on the plan. I want to pull the sim card and give it to the kid as a toy to play games on and only use the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Will the phone continue to function when the plan runs out or will straight talk lock it somehow over wifi?

Just pull the SIM card out now and let your child continue using it as a WiFi only device.
Unless your friend actually bought the phone from Straight Talk and still hasn't paid that part off, their only link is to the account that's on that SIM card, not the phone itself. They cannot claim ownership on that phone or doing anything to it.

Yep Yep, all correct.

$40 tablet for the kids running Oreo ;) Runs Real Racing 3 beautifully. Qualcomm/Snapdragon, quad core, 2GB mem, 16GB built in and you can add 32GB SDCard.

Pulled the sim before installing the battery then went through it disabling all the crapware and installed an app locker.

Note: Deny permissions to "Wi-Fi Utility" over and over until you get the "remember this decision" options. It's a data collection app that uses wi-fi, cell, and Bluetooth to constantly attempt connecting to anything and everything in range then sends that data back to whoever.
