[REQ] Custom ROM for Gionee CTRL V1 phone

Hello

My younger brother has a gionee ctrl V1 model. Can anyone tell me about the custom ROMS available for this phone? It has really slowed down. I have root access to it, cleared all app caches, dalvic caches using link2sd but its hanging like hell. I also removed a lot of apps including bloatware using titanium backup, but the problem still persists

In July this year, I did a factory reset of my phone. It was running smooth. Unfortunately the smoothness lasted for some two or three weeks.

I'm hunting for a custom ROM for this phone which be my final saviour. Can anyone tell me where a custom ROM for this ROM is available and also CWM image for booting up in clockworkmod recovery?

I actually saw a couple of Gionees on display today in China Mobile. I'd never heard of them before, but they're obviously Chinese. As for custom ROMs and recovery, I think extremely unlikely at the moment, and a Google or Baidu search doesn't show anything promising for Gionee phones. Some Chinese devices, the manufacturers go out of their way to encourage and support custom ROMs, like Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus.

The sad part is, I'm using an Indian brand phone and custom ROMs are available for it. Is there any better place to ask this?

You got a Micromax? Which I believe is one of the most popular Indian brands. The thing is it's only really the popular devices that have custom ROMs made for them, because those are the ones that the devs have and there is sufficient demand for it, like Samsung S4. Or maybe the manufacturer provides support and information for third-party devs, e.g. Xiaomi or Oppo, both Chinese. There's a bit of information on how to root the Gionee V1, mostly in Chinese though. I've only heard of this brand yesterday, because I saw a couple of their phones at the local CMCC store. I've searched both Baidu(Chinese) and Google for info, there's nothing useful at all for the V1 in the way of custom ROMs.

Alright, so one should do a good research of public opinion before buying a phone. Ctrl v1 was a recent launch when I bought it. Now realized, I made a big mistake :(. Yes I'm using a Micromax and boy!! what brilliant (or.. Insanely great) custom ROMs are available for it. These custom ROMs by amateur developers have shown mmx guys how a good ROM should be made #thumbsup.

I can entirely see that, it's same with the Oppo N1, Find 5 and 7. From experience I found Oppo's own fork of Android(ColorOS) to be so buggy that it's unusable. And instead there's plenty of custom ROMs that are completely usable and bug free, plus it's very easy to install them as well. In fact I bought an Oppo F7a after doing research into what was available, and custom ROMs was a top requirement for me.
