May be there is some kind of traffic monitor, that shows actual information (e.g transmit/receive in KB) directly in notify bar, where located clock, battery indicator, wifi, and so on?
Not in a notify area, that you must drag to open it, and only after that see info (e.g 3G Watchdog, Network Speed e.t.c).
