Reset Backup Password?

So, I was 99% certain I knew what the backup password was to my phone, but I'm getting told it is incorrect. After an AT&T device update, the phone restarted and I had to enter password instead of using fingerprints, and the password didn't work. I'm now seeing that Samsung has apparently changed a lot of things.

I found documentation on how to use the find my mobile site to unlock the phone, but the site doesn't look at all like the screenshots on Samsung's FAQ page, and there was no unlock option. I was able to get the phone unlocked by locking it with a PIN through the find my mobile site, so the phone is now unlocked, but I can't access the security settings without my password. I am trying to change the password, or otherwise reset it to use swipe or PIN or anything, but all the settings are asking me to enter my current password.

Having to do the PIN lock trick every time the phone powers off will get annoying really quickly, and older forums I've found online say that you can use your fingerprint to get into the security settings, but I don't seem to have that option, it always tells me to enter my current password.

When I was locked out I also never got the "Unlock by logging into Google" option that a lot of older forum posts and articles mentioned, so it seems like somewhat recently a lot of these settings have changed. Is there any way currently working for me to remove or change my backup password without doing a factory reset and without knowing my current password?
