Resetted the phone - recover files from Richnote

Today, my phone messed up so I decided to reset it to standard/factory. It was ok for me as I didn't have anything special, however I forgot the documents I had on the default Richnote app that is installed on the phone.

As I have searched around, I understand that these files/documents aren't actually saved on the memory card? Are the some programs that could recover these files? Because I need to see what I've written.

So I found these files saved on the phone. My question now: How do I open them? The files are named like: 16_scr, but just saved as a file.

I have written down how many hours I helped someone each day for about 2 weeks, and I would get money for it. So it is very important to get these files.

Maybe worth mentioning: It's a LG P920. Android version 2.3.5. Richnote app

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum :)

I've a little confused. In orange you are asking whether there are apps which can recover these files, then next you say that you've found some files and want to know how to open them? So I don't know whether you've recovered your files or not.

If the files you've found are the ones you need, and were produced by this app (which I know nothing about), my best guess is that you need to reinstall that app to read them. To play safe, make backup copies of them first.

Otherwise, yes, different apps store data in different places. Some may store it in /data/data, in which case you'll need a rooted phone to access that region. But in any event normal data recovery software can only work on partitions which you can mount as usb mass storage on a computer. If you can do that, then any data recovery app on the computer can do this for you.

If you need to look at the /data partition you've more chance with Linux than Mac or Windows because it will be in ext3 or ext4 format. I remember managing to mount the /data partition of my old android 2.3 phone over usb on a Linux virtual machine, but never needed to attempt data recovery that way.

Thanks! I used an USB and found a folder named "richnote" where the files were. My problem is that the files isn't saved as any file, so I don't know how to open these files.

As you see, the files are still there ;)

I'm not sure I know what you mean by "the files isn't saved as any file" - do you mean that the file type isn't recognised by your file browser?

Can't the richnote app open them? Check its settings and make sure it is looking in that folder for its stored data (by all means back up the folder first).
