Help Resetting Applications

My phone (Galaxy S) reset itself recently. It was in my pocket and I am not sure how it happened but seems to have factory reset itself by having one or more buttons pushed simultaneously.

Not a massive problem I thought as my contacts are all gmail backed up online as is my calendar. Photos are on the SD.

Since then though all my applications want to not start at all (with application process errors) or after reinstallation -via market- will work but forget each time they are used, therefore requiring a password or EULA screen every time they are used.

How can I sort this out?

Thanks for this, I am grateful. I was avoiding a reset of this nature as I did not want to lose my SMS messages (couldn't find any ways of authentically bringing them back as txt messages on the phone - not in gmail)

It did however work perfectly.

I am a little dissapointed in the original cause of the first -unintentional- reset (of my Galaxy S) which was caused too easily by being in my jeans pocket when I sat down and some combination of key pressing caused the nasty reset.

Thanks again though.

Think its unlikely that the reset was caused by button press in your pocket. Its not exactly the easiest combination to press, of course thats the reason the keys are chosen.

If I had to guess I'd say probably an errant app.

Hmmm, Well the phone showed no signs of any problems before. I am not a prolific app installer too.

I have a swipe security pattern set on the phone too, I wonder if there is any reset type function that kicks in if the phone is being dialled via the emergency number screen (whilst it was in my pocket)?

Had a similar thing happen to me a while ago when the phone reset and there was no explanation, phone was actually just lay on a computer desk at the time as well.

Only thing I could think was that a recently installed app was likely cause.
