[Resolved] Battery pull procedure

Press the power button down until it restarts (probably 10 seconds or so, I don't have that model so can't be precise).

Isn't that a soft reset?
If you want to clear the phone cache, from the power off, press and hold bixby + volu up key + power until the “software update” screen shows, then release.
Once the little dead android appears, follow the directions on the screen to wipe cache partition. Then normal boot.

Surely it's as close to a battery pull as you can get with a phone without a removable battery?

No, on other devices I have seen soft and hard reset options, depending on performed finger gymnastics. The sensor now works anyway so thanks both.
I know on S7, and probably other Samsungs, holding down power and volume-down for simultaneously for at least 10 seconds does force a hard reboot,
