restore factory settings

How do I reset the settings on the phone with model number SPH M820 BST. I bought a used phone and was told it had alreay been reset. But that was not the case

Hmmm, it's been a while since I've been on Android 2.2/Froyo as that what my google search said your phone is on.

Anyways, if I remember correctly it is here: menu -> settings -> privacy -> and select factory data reset.

Where I said 'privacy' above it might be called 'security'.
