Help Restore LG Download Mode after oem unlock

Hey I might be over looking the answer to this question somewhere, and am aware that as stated in other posts after unlocking bootloader you will not be able to return to stock lg download mode. I was wondering if anyone has found a way to do so using orignal laf parition which I have backed up on my device. I have tried flashing it in fastboot and the flash does fine, but still only have download mode with fastboot commands. I would like to return to stock to manually update to the 24B firmware, which I have tried using Lg Software Update tool but gets stuck after rebooting phone at the LG screen and fastboot appears at the top of the screen. Please any help will be greatly appreciated, or if anyone has a ported version of Lollipop I could install through CWMR. Thank you

Solved: was flashing a backp of laf for fastboot extracted the laf.bin from kdz and renamed it to laf.img flashed fixed download mode back updated to 24a firmware, even though fixed still wondering if there is any android rom ports for the vs880 or if ones are currently being developed. Also would like to know if there are any root options for 5.1.1 currently i am using kingroot but root only lasts till reboot. Any suggestions?
Edit: before updating to 5.1.1 i also restored original recovery image if anybody else would like to know proper procedure
Using the following command lines in fastboot (restoring back default from cwm): fastboot erase recovery, fastboot flash recovery recovery.img*
(*whatever you stock recovery img file is called)
