Root Restoring a Titanium backup

I have a rooted Droid X and I use Titanium back. I'm planning on buying a new Razr and wasn't planning on rooting it right away. My question is

Can I install Titanium back program and restore a backup file to an unrooted Razr?

Also, The Razr is coming without an SD cad. Will My DroidX SD card work in the Razr?

Titanium Backup requires root, so no it won't work on an unrooted Razr.
Root the Razr and it should work OK. But you'll want to be VERY sure not to restore a system app, I'm sure that doing that would create all kinds of havoc.

Yes, the SD card from your DroidX should work just fine. However there will most likely be a lot of phone specific files on the card that will just be wasted space on the Razr.

Depending on what kind of backup you are looking for, you can also use My Backup PRo to simply backup the apks on your Droid X and just reinstall them on the Razr.

I did exactly this--put my DX SD card in my Razr, and after rooting, ran ti to restore most stuff. A few points to keep in mind:

1. On the DX, there is one SD card. On the Razr, there are two. SD, which is the internal memory on the phone and acts like a SD card, and SD-ext, which is the actual card you stick in the side. Ti will want to use the phone built in SD as a default. You will need to tell it to use the SD-ext slot if you want to use the memory card.

2. Some system apps are ok to add, but as noted above, be careful. For example, if you liked Moto's connected music player (will show up as Music 2.3.3), you can run that. In general, the newer sturm apps are better.

I was able to export my LPP & Go launcher screens to my new phone, and pretty much had the homescreen setup I was used to on my DX in no time (you'll have to fix widgets, of course).
Good luck and have fun!
