Retracting camera setting window

Hello! Can someone please tell me how to cure the following problem with my wife's Samsung Galaxy s7? (She relies on me to do the troubleshooting — ha, ha!) When the camera app is opened for use, at the top right of the screen is a little cogwheel (the camera settings icon). However, though the settings window opens when I click the cogwheel, it immediately retracts, so it is not possible to adjust any of the settings. I have tried all the phone settings to try to cure this, but nothing seems to make any difference — the window still retracts.

With thanks in advance, for any helpful information,

Remove any phone case.
Clear cache within the camera app.
Reboot the phone.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Dannydet, but I did as you directed, with no result. After that, I cleared not only the camera cache, but the camera data as well. It still made no difference. If there is anything you could add, it would be appreciated.
By the way, my wife prefers the Easy Home Screen. However, I tried switching, temporarily, to the Standard mode, but this made no difference to the camera settings window, at all. It still kept on retracting.
