Root Return to my roots

TubbyGrey

Lurker
I need some help please.

I have 3 Pantech Breakouts in this household. Phone #1 is totally stock. Phone #2 has been rooted and Phone #3 I've tried rooting it so many times that I have it boogered-up badly. I would like to somehow copy the files from another phone and get back to square one so I can start trying to root it again.. or maybe just admit defeat and give up.

My question: Can I copy the folders/files from the stock Breakout or the rooted one to transfer to Phone #3 and if so, which folders..?? Use the USB connection or zip it to the sd card..?? Which file manager app would be best to use..??

Thanks for your time.

So what exactly happens when you try to boot Phone #3?

Thanks for your response

I'm a little better off with it than I was a few days ago.
I placed a zip file on the sd card and booted it. It read the card and installed a theme, rom or kernal. It now boots and works okay.. but it has a purple notification bar, font that is a bit too small for my preference and on the bottom menu bar it doesn't have a button for my apps. I'd like to return it to stock if possible.

If you have cwm recovery installed, you can try flashing this nandroid backup, which is stock.

Search the forum for the thread "stock ROM backup," I'm not sure how to link to it in tapatalk.

As I mentioned in my first post.. I really boogered-up the phone.. then paniced and tried some cocamamie restore tactics.. it was so bad that only by removing/inserting the battery would it allow the phone to turn on or off. What was left of the CWM menu was only Reboot Now (or maybe it was Shutdown Now)

Different story tonight.. BINGO.. I'm back..!! I'm setting it up now.. after re-reading some posts and re-reading them again I was finally able to stumble through the restore process.

Thank you for your time terabyte128. I was almost willing to settle for too small of font, purple notification bar and no apps displayed.. almost.

Glad you were here.. I'm going back to lurking.. but have learned my lesson.. back-up, back-up and back-up again.. and don't panic, it's not the end of the world. Thanks again.
