Android Question

Guest
I have a second hand Samsung Galaxy S2 which has been unlocked to operate on the Virgin network (Previously 02) My AVG anti virus app warns that I have been rooted and my Brighthouse network app will not run on a rooted phone. Can I reverse the rooting as I don't need the features rooting gives me.

Thank you

Drednought

Hi Drednought, and welcome to AF :)

Yes, you can undo this. I'm not a Samsung expert, but the basic idea is that you reload the phone with a set of official software and that will remove root. I believe that a program called Odin is used for this with Samsung phones.

You'll find a collection of useful links here: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...guide-last-updated-02-mar-2012-13-48-gmt.html.

This thread is about someone wanting to do what you want: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-s2-...ed-how-can-i-get-my-phone-back-how-begin.html

Official software for many networks can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928

If you need more advice than you can find in those links, the best would be to register so that you can ask the question in our S2 root forum, Galaxy S2 (International) - All Things Root - Android Forums. The people there should be able to talk you through any aspect of this procedure :)
