This is a review of LED Smart bluetooth bracelet watch. Smart Bluetooth V3.0 Bracelet Watch w/ Music Player / Answer Call - Black + Red - Free Shipping - DealExtreme
Smartwatches and smartbracelets have been at the top of many latest discussions around the web. Some of these devices are very advance and can function as a phone with a sim card on your wrist or a super fitness bracelet that can predict your sleep pattern and more. Some people want to cramp in more functionality into their portable gadgets, while others need something cheap and simple to provide basic notification. What I'm going to look at today is one of those very simple gadgets that is a step below "smartwatch" functionality, but still packs some very useful functions for everyday use. In the past I reviewed a similar bluetooth watch device from DX.com and was surprised from the replies and PMs how much attention it got. One drawback of that watch was it's rather bulky design. As an alternative, here is a smart bracelet device with a more elegant design.
Though it arrived in rather plain package, I was pleased to see how well it was packed inside of the inner display box. Some people underestimate that, but it's important because you want your product to arrive intact. Inside of the box, there was a smart bracelet along with a charging cable/clip and a very detailed manual in Chinese and English. Bracelet itself was very lightweight, about 1.3 oz, and fit nicely around my wrist. I do want to note that I have a small wrist, but it still felt comfortable even being a bit loose. With an exception of a plastic display in the middle, the rest of the exterior was a black soft touch rubbery material. The material inside was also soft touch but in red color and it felt a bit softer in comparison to exterior. I found the interior material to be very comfortable for extended period of wear, and it did not irate my skin at all. To charge this bracelet, you need to use included charging clip to attach it's two pins to contacts inside of the bracelet. Considering it's 130 mAh battery, it doesn't take too long to charge it full, and total standby time is 240 hours. Of course, operation time will depend on how long you will use the bracelet continuously while listening to music or placing the calls. Although it displays time, there is a time-out for display so you don't waste the battery.
Pair up with my phone was relatively easy. Every function in this bracelet is accessible from a main button which can be pressed on the left/right sides. Beside displaying the time (in 24hr format), the bracelet performs notification functionality by a mean of vibration. Unfortunately, when you receive a call you can't see a caller ID, but it will notify you by vibration of incoming call if your phone is on mute. Now, here where it gets more interesting. When you hear it vibrating with a call notification, you have an option to press the button to pick up the call right from your bracelet using it's built in speaker and microphone. The sound quality was acceptable. Furthermore, since your bracelet pairs up with a phone to connect to phone and media audio, you can use it as external bluetooth speaker that will play songs from your phone on your bracelet. You can't control the playback remotely, but you can listen to it 20-30ft away from your phone. Another interesting feature is an alarm indicating you are too far away from your paired up phone. That will come handy if you forget your phone while still wearing a bracelet that will remind you with a beep.
Overall, I think it's a really neat minimalistic smart bluetooth bracelet that has unisex appeal and very comfortable to wear. It's not going to be a replacement of a fully functional smartwatch, but rather a device with a subset of smart functionalities. After I received my review sample of this smart bracelet from DX.com, they actually got in stock another version of it (in multiple colors) with additional functionality: OLED Bluetooth V3.0 Smart Touch Bracelet Watch w/ Music Player / Pedometer - Black + Red - Free Shipping - DealExtreme - this one has a very similar design with an exception of capacitive touch OLED display, additional Pedometer functionality, and what appears like a regular micro-USB charging connector. I want to bring it up in this review since it looks like another great smart bluetooth bracelet. Not sure if I'm going to get a chance to review it, but in general it should have all the same functionality as the bracelet above (the same design and material for sure), and additional features per that product description.
