I put some ringtones I made in audio/tones

Now why does the music player list those? how do I keep them as ringtones, but not have them in my music list?

Thanks in advance

Oh and I have an htc aria

Create an empty file with Notepad named ".nomedia", save it with File Type as "all files", and copy it to whatever folder(s) that you don't want showing up in either music or photo galleries.

Hi there,

You need to put ringtones (and other system tones) in the correct folders:

/sdcard/media/alarms
/sdcard/media/notifications
/sdcard/media/ringtones

If they do not exist on your SD card just create them.

they don't need to be in that specific path, just the dir names (alarms, notifications, ringtones)
i have my notifications in sd/notifications, works fine

note that after you create those folders and put something in there, you might need to reboot the phone for them to index

+1. I've seen people use different folder structures (e.g. \sdcard\media\audio\notifications, etc). The names of the folders are what matters -- not the specific locations.

Right. I made the ringtones, alarms and notifications folders on my SDcard root level, without the extra media or audio folders, and it works fine.
