Ringer low / good ring tone? Missing calls

I just upgrade from an iPhone 4 and I must say I'm not happy with the ring\tone volume and choice are rather poor.

I'm missing calls all the time because the volume is too low.

Is this typical and something I should get used to. This alone almost wants me to go back and return it for an iPhone 5 which I really don't want to do.

The battery life is something I can deal with but having to have my G3 next to me at all times at home, so I can hear a call is kinda ridiculous.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you adjusted your ringer volume:

Pull down your notifications and click the gear near the top right
Click SOUNDS
Click VOLUME
and from there you can adust the volume specifically for Ringtone

I personally find the volume plenty loud enough but then again I rarely let it go more than 10ft away from me.

Anyway here is an article on how to create and customize your own ringtones:

Hmm... Not sure if I can help you, my phone is plenty loud at like 50-75%, I can usually hear it a couple rooms away and I don't hear well to begin with. Not sure if there is something wrong with your speaker or you just need it extra loud for some reason.

When you miss the calls is the phone in a pocket or how far away. If in pocket open the Dialer screen and hit the Menu button and select Call Settings. Scroll down and select Increase volume in pocket.

thank you thank you thank you

im usually pretty good at looking over all the settings but never seen that one and its making me now hear my phone in my pocket

I agree with you that the Samsung-supplied "nature" ringtones are too soft. But it's a very easy fix: download Zedge from the market and you'll have your choice of hundreds of tones, many quite loud.

i am hearing impaired and have used a ringtone that come on an
old sony-ericson phone i had many years ago. it's a polyphonic
melody i converted to an mp3 and increased the volume a bit.
it's very loud and easy to hear, i've used it on every phone for
the last 8-10 years !

it's called "not late for work", try it and see if it helps.
