Ringtones changing to default after reboot

I just noticed today that when I restart my phone the ringtones I've set for my contacts keeps changing to default after reboot and the alarm tone also changes. Why?

Are you using stock tones from the phone or your own? If you're using your own where are they stored?

I have them on a micro sd card. I think I have to copy them to phone?

Yup, you do. They need to be in the ringtones/notification folders

It's been a while since I got a new phone, so I forgot to do that.

The only way I've ever done it is to hook my phone up to my laptop and drag and drop. You can do it from a file explorer app too, I've just never tried it that way.

I'm sure someone will be along to offer an app recommendation and better instructions

I've used Astro File Explorer ever since my first smart phone and it's very intuitive to use but there are a ton of file explorers out there to choose from and some are much more useful if you plan to root your phone.

I used ASTRO on my moto devices, but since I switched to Samsung galaxies I've actually been quite happy with their built in files explorer. It's just called "My Files"
