This simple, yet addictive tower defense game is very easy to get into. From its customization options to its various maps and difficulty levels, this is a game that will keep you interested and entertained for a very long time.
The objective is simple. You must prevent enemies form crossing the screen to the other side by planting turrets and other various automated weapons on the field to destroy them. Defeating enemies earns you cash/points. As you progress through the levels, the difficulty of the game increases. At the end of each round, you can use your cash/points to upgrade, add or modify your weapons. If the enemies reach the other side of the field, the game ends. Robo Defense offers 40 levels per difficulty level. There are three difficulty levels in the game (maps), so that brings us to a total of 120 levels.
The controls are quite simple, you tap and drag towers to modify or move them and swipe to move the camera around the map. Nothing in the game is controlled in real-time.
The user friendly, intuitive interface allows new players to jump right into the game with ease. While the interface is simple, the game itself is extensive due to the multiple maps and difficulty levels.
The game also has an achievement system. You unlock achievements by completing specific tasks such as completing a level without rockets or completing a game with the difficulty set at a certain number. This, among many other things (weapons, maps and upgrades) is why Robo Defense has such a high replay value.
Upon completing a level, you gain reward points. You can spend these points on various weapon power-ups. These power-ups include increased bullet damage, faster reload, etc. If you plan on completing a map at a higher difficulty level, this is a must.
The ability to upgrade and modify your weapons is one of the main reasons why this game is so addicting. You can upgrade your weapon to a different type and that weapon type has its very own set of upgrades. The weapon selection ranges from rocket launchers and turrets to anti-aircraft guns. You can place your towers just about anywhere on the field. Every player will have their own strategy.
If you don't have time to wait for the level to complete, don't worry. Robo Defense offers a fast forward feature that speeds up gameplay. With this enabled, the game runs at twice the speed, cutting the time to complete a level in half. The game also has an auto-save feature, so you don't have to wait for the level to complete to save your progress.
The visuals in Robo Defense are very impressive. They are vivid, clear and detailed. One of the best visuals I've seen on the Android platform. The game runs very smooth with almost no lag or slowdown (even when there's a lot of activity on-screen).
If you love tower defense games, then look no further. This is one of the best I've seen.
