You're sitting on a train, bus, or car traveling to your destination. It's a long drive and the radio is just playing the same songs over and over at this point. What do you do? Check your Facebook? Twitter? If you're anything like me, you look for something on the Android Market to hold you over.
I stumbled upon this app while browsing the Games section and noticed it had some pretty good reviews and a pretty good rating. I gave the Free version a try. To make this story short, it's a fun game but it's not worth the money.
I played around with this game for about an hour or two on my Motorola Droid. This game works as it should but I've been spoiled. I've been spoiled by games on other consoles (PS3, XBOX 360) and the PC. What I mean by that is that the game itself looks terrible. I realize you shouldn't compare an Android game to a standalone device with the sole purpose of playing games but here's my problem. There are other games on the Android market that look a lot better than this game.
Sure they are trying to improve performance since at any point in this game, there can be a lot of animations going on. It is, in it's basic essence, a tower defense game. This game is about as fun as any other tower defense game. You build towers and defend from incoming waves of enemies.
The problem? There really is no goal in this. The only objective being "Don't let enemies get by". Even TETRIS has a nice little goal at the end of the game where a rocket goes flying into space.
Let me break it down for you here:
1. If you need something to keep you busy for a few minutes to an hour or so, this is the game for you.
2. If you are looking for a mildly entertaining game on the Android Market, this is for you.
3. If you are an iPhone user that recently switched to an Android phone and are looking for aesthetically pleasing games, this is not the game for you.
4. If you are looking for ingenuity and originality, this is not the game for you.
All in all this game fun, but don't expect more out of what it is.
