Robo Defense by Lupis Labs is probably the most enjoyably addictive game I've played on Android.

The object of the game is to protect your base from waves of an invading army by building up your defenses on the battlefield. The basic level ( or Map) is a simple open field with the enemy's entrance on one side and your base on the other. There are other maps to choose from with different themes, but the object is always the same; destroy the enemy before they cross the battlefield.

To complete a game on a specific map you must survive 100 waves of the enemy's invasion. The starting 'health' is 20. If 20 enemies elude your defenses and make it to your base you lose. If you lose you will still be able to keep your score points (or Reward Points) from every enemy you kill, but obviously the goal is to win the game.

To win the game you must set up a good defense on any given map. Your defenses consist of three basic towers: Gun, Rocket, and Freeze. Of course, you can upgrade them during the game to make them more powerful.

Each time you complete a map, the difficulty level will automatically be raised by one. The max difficulty in the free version is 10, but if you purchase the game you can obviously go higher. The difficulties unlock by increments of ten, but the good news is you do not have to play every single level of difficulty. I'm not exactly sure how many levels of difficulty there are in the game. I thought there would only be 100, but right now I'm at level 110. I heard somewhere that it ends at 120, but I saw a video on youtube where someone was playing on level 500.

Obviously, that person has a specific strategy that suits him, otherwise he wouldn't have made it to level 500. And that's a great thing about the game. It is so customizable, that every player (through trial and error) will develop his own method.

The best aspects of the game are the available upgrades and achievements. You can upgrade your defense towers during the game by tapping on existing towers. You can also upgrade the general strength of your towers by spending your Reward Points. You gain Reward Points by killing enemies during gameplay. You can increase base health, increase strength and rate of fire, and even unlock new weapons.

The achievements is another fun way to keep track of your progress. The achievements are little goals that the game gives the player. Some of them are easy and inevitable like 'Finish any Map.' Others are a bit more challenging like 'Finish a Map without any Rocket Towers.' When I started playing the game I found myself quickly obsessed with getting every single achievement I could. There is something very gratifying about achieving all these achievements.

Apparently, there is also a mysterious enemy in the game. He is a giant walking robot called the Titan and only comes out at rare and random times once you hit higher levels. I've never seen him, but there is quite a bit of info on him on the internet.

Robo Defense is the most enjoyable game I've played on android so far. It was a game that I actually thought about while I wasn't playing it. I was one of the first at my job to get an android phone, but as my fellow employees started converting to android I would always recommend this game to them. Unfortunately they would all tell me that they loved the game, but they made it as far as they could go in the free version. In my opinion, the full version of the game is totally worth the $2.99. Download the free version and check it out for yourself.
