Help Rogers HTC Magic Exchange Sync Weirdness

Here is the solution for the exchange sync...
1. Go to mail -> menu -> accounts : delete your exchange account
(it will also delete your contacts & calendar)
2. Go to contacts : delete all contact that are synced with google account
3. disable google account syncronisation (settings : syncro : data syncronization : application sync settings : disable contacts (you might disable gmail & calendar as well, as you please)
4. enter your exchange account again en start syncing...

Syncro of contacts will show no errors and syncing will be a lot faster then before.

Hi, as already posted this is not a solution, but a workaround.
In fact, you should be able to sync Exchange and Gmail contacts at the same time, but there's a bug in the exchange connector.
so this is a good workaround if you don't need an automatic sync with gmail (you can't disable just the contact part like the exchange plugin do...)
Ah and the point 2 is useless, when you delete your Exchange account the plugin will remove all the contacts marked with "Exchange" flag...

I'm getting the "An error has occurred on the computer running Exchange" error...And exactly, it happens after a few hours...

But the meeting attendees issue is most concerning. What's the worst about it is when I am just an attendee for a meeting, any further updates to the meeting doesn't get reflected in outlook.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem? I have this as well, and I cant use my Magic until this is solved. I do not want to mess upp my Outlook appointments

I've just noticed yet another issue with the HTC exchange calendar sync: All day appointments in Outlook like stat holidays, birthdays, etc. which begin with "Show Time As" set to Free, change to Busy after sync. This ends up showing my co-workers that I am unavailable to meet with them on my friend's birthday, for example.

Anyone else seeing this behaviour? If so, I will add it to the growing list that I have been providing HTC tech support and dev.

Yes I have experienced this to. I have the contact sync problem, the problem with the removal of attandees and also this last probelm you describe.

I have been forced to use my windows mobile device becoause of these problems. I hope someone will fix these problems, so that I can continue using my Magic

Disabling the Google account sync is not a fix or workaround. I have the Exchange sync error on all (just over 20) Google branded Vodafone HTC Magics running the "Smartphone France 2.5.0" ROM. I am the admin for 13 exchange servers with just over 6000 users - I know exchange inside and out (experts-exchange guru). The server error reported is not an error on the exchange server, there is a bug with the android software. The basic fact that the first sync works and subsequent updates don't is a no-brainer giveaway that the android software is at fault. I've tried to have a sensible conversation with some android developers over on xda forums but TBH there is not alot of MS Exchnge based experience there...

If you think about it.... Google/Android has no "real" interest in fixing this issue,.. they would prefer if you used GoogleMail & tools therein - why would they promote such a degree of interoperability with a competitive product AND prevent third party players from making some money.

My 2 cents = This is a (known) bug with android 1.5 software and it is not a priority to fix. Worldwide, 75% of the android based phones sold on contract DO NOT HAVE MS exchange sync embedded - for example, all androids in the UK have this removed. This is the way Google wants things to play out. If you want a lasting sol'n and someone who will listen to your concerns re: bugs then go 3rd party app. Future ROMs will not likely have embedded Exchange support.

I have advised our users to purchase 3rd party app or use the GoogleMail system (without internal support)

According to the ROM Upgrade the Exchange problem should be fixed.
I copied this from the HTC website:

1. Google Maps has been updated to version 3.1.1.
2. Setup Wizard has been updated to load all privacy policies and Google Terms of Service from the network.
3. Fixed Exchange Contact and Calendar synchronization issues. After editing contacts without a photo assigned, contact synchronization would fail. After editing calendar appointments and accepting changes using

I think that this phone, and android OS too, are too immature to accomplish their job.
I will send the phone back to my operator and i will ask to change it to a Nokia Symbian one.
I hope that i next releases we will have more support a less

Hi,

Wave has developed a product called MyLink

[...SPAM...]

Jeremy/Alain, you've sent the same message three times here and a few times on the Android community forums, so I hope you're a representative of some sort.

I've registered for Wave MyLink a few hours ago and still haven't got an e-mail with the download link. Can you please bring this up to your managers?

1. Having to register with Name, e-mail and phone number (!) in order to evaluate some software is a bit silly and will turn many people off.

2. If I do register, at least please send that e-mail so I can download your mysterious software.
