Rom Manager

I'm having Rom Manager issues. When I hit "Backup Current Rom", the phone restarts to a screen that says Android system recovery <3e> and Samsung Recovery Utils for BML at the top. Below that are some options (reboot system now, reinstall packages, etc.), and underneath that it says:

update media, please wait
update media, finished
# manual mode #
--appling multi-csc...
installing multi-csc
install default apk-files, please wait
install default apk-files, finished

If I hit "reboot system now" the phone restarts as usual, and when I click on "Manage and Restore Backups" there's nothing in it. Any ideas?

Are you rooted with CWM installed? If not ROM manager will do nothing for you. If so then you can boot into recovery manually to make a nandroid backup and leave ROM manager out of the loop.

What phone do you have? Others with that phone may be able to better address your issue.

Welcome to AF by the way :D

I have a Captivate. When I hit "Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery" and select Captivate it shows a green progress bar followed by a success notification.

This is from Koush on XDA

  1. Download ROM Manager from the Market.
  2. Flash Recovery.
  3. Choose Captivate as your phone
  4. Accept the Superuser prompt.
  5. Use ROM Manager to create a Backup.
  6. On the very FIRST boot of Clockwork, you may need to manually select "reinstall packages" if Clockwork does not start. You should only ever have to do this once. It will be automatic from then on.
  7. Watch the backup go!
He is the dev behind ROM manager and CWM IIRC

I hit "reinstall packages", but it's says:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
