Anyone else give PA a try lately?

Download: Stay Paranoid

Its been my go-to the last 3-4 weeks. It started out feeling really bare, but its grown on me. Especially hover :

Flashed the latest update last night (they normally update every monday night - but had server issues last night) and have been having some problems, which is strange since they deemed this release an "RC" or release candidate.

Chrome keeps crashing when launched and the camera crashes anytime its processing a photoblur.

Disappointing as I was really digging this ROM before the 4.4 releases. (Version 4.3 is still android 4.4.2.. its confusing  )

I have always wanted to try PA but never gave it a shot after I got the Nexus 5. I do have to say the Hover notifications look bad ass, from the video posted.

I will give it a shot probably this weekend as I'll be desperately trying to occupy my android fixation before Google IO next week.

RC2 fixed all of the bugs I described previously. So I'm perfectly happy with it again now :)

They're philosophy is staying close to stock google, so if you are coming from a ROM like DU you'll likely miss some features, but for now I'm enjoying it.

Great to know! I'm on stock now, I actually have found it hard to justify going away from KitKat stock since it was released. The Google experience launcher has always made sense to me.

I will try PA asap... and try not to make any radiohead references along the way.

I'm not really tempted by this for my Nexus 5, but I think I'll end up giving it a spin on my Nexus 7.

I've been resistant to any ROM for quite some time (vanilla is so awesome :D). But I think it is time to take the plunge.

I like the ROM. The best feature to me is the floating app feature I come in handy a lot. I have a few problems that someone maybe able to help me out with:

1. After I left my stock ROM the apps that were installed stayed on the phone and I don't like that. I deleted the files and it have me back most of my space... But there is still 3GB unaccounted for! What do I need to do?

So when you look at "/System/Storage/" and under "Misc Storage" you have 3gb of space unaccounted for? If that's the case then...
To start, I would guess that a lot of that storage is either TWRP/CWM nandroid backups and or ROM's and/or Facrory Images stored on the internal storage. It doesn't take but a couple ROM's and nandroid backups to start hogging up space. Use an App like "Root Browser" and look at the "/Root/" and the "/Storage/" folders and look for apps, files and etc.. Also check your "/Sdcard/download/" folder for any unnecessary downloads that might be saved in this folder and utilizing space as well.
Typically I keep a current nandroid backup and a current version of the ROM that I'm using saved on my device. The other nandroids and ROM's, I backup to my PC where they are safe and not using up my device's storage.
As always be careful and know what files that you might be deleting or moving to your PC, as a Just in case senerio.

Hi,
That's someone what of what I'm saying. My Nexus 5 has a 16GB HD and after the initial stock ROM it has 12GB to use. I have a custom ROM that took about 300MB. But with no apps installed on the custom ROM it says that I had 9GB worth of free space.

After I though my SD card files I found out that my game files from the stock ROM were still there. So I deleted all of the old game files and now have 9GB of free space.

After noticing that the phone kept the old game files I figure it must have kept the apk files along with it. Then that brought me to the realization that it kept a lot of my files, if not all of them. I still have some old ringtones, one that I am currently using.

Since I'm not using the stock ROM anymore why has it keep the files and I wonder does it have the backup of the stock files.

I want to know where my phones storage space has gone and what do I need to do to get it back?

I don't have any need for the stock ROM anymore.

I hope I explained it a little better.

If it helps I'm running Paranoid 4.6-Beta 1
Android Software version 4.4.4 (System is up to date)

The new dynamic status bar is looking great! It's a huge jump from what PA colors used to be. The latest release makes it much smoother

Is anyone else getting the Chinese water tourture of Google Play Services battery drain? I'm running 4.6 beta 3 with Franco #63. Google Play has kept my phone awake over an hour during a 9 hour stretch where I've done nothing with the phone.

According to BBS NlpCollectorWakeLock and NlpWakeLock are my biggest offenders, each accounting for 50mins of activity and my phone has been in deep sleep around 75%.

Yes, I have Google Now on and Location settings to fine, but I did under DU and the drain wasn't as bad. Thoughts?

As a note, this is at my school where my classroom doesn't have the best service, but it's not awful either and I'm on WiFi all day.

When you have Google location services and reporting services on, I believe the scan intervals are 1 min apart. This is why the wakelocks seem so high. There's an xposed module called "unbounce" which almost acts like a wakelock blocker but instead of restricting the service, it delays it. The module was originally created just for the sole purpose of delaying nipcollector and wakelock in longer intervals to make the services more battery friendly and now it can delay other services as well. If you don't use xposed then there really isn't a workaround to your dilemma except for turning off report location.

Unbounce is just straight awesome there. Now that I have the xposed framework do I need to remove it before I clean flash a ROM or does the full flash take care of it then I have to set up xposed again?

You have to reinstall the xposed framework every new flash, unless you use carbonrom
