[ROM] V4.1.2 JB Stripped For ZTE Z998 aka ZTE Mustang

Hello everyone, this is the first ROM I've ever worked on so be gentle lol. Its basically stock but I removed a lot of bloatware, replaced the launcher with nova, and added a few apps to the system.

The apps I've added are:

Aptoide Market

PlayerPro Music Player

There may be more to come as this is still a work in progress.

Big thanks to Cyberdev for giving me advice and helping me start my own project. If anyone that has this phone wants cm11 on it, let one of us know. I'm the only one testing it and this is my daily driver so another tester that would be willing to take turns with me or something would be awesome.

FLASH THIS ROM AT YOUR OWN RISK. I WILL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR PHONE.

I've successfully flashed this ROM multiple times so I know it works fine as long as you know how to properly flash a ROM.

Let me know about any problems and I'll see what I can do. The download link may be updated frequently.

Of course constructive criticism is always welcome (:

Oh and after you flash the ROM whenever you select "reboot system now" in recovery it will ask you if you want to root your phone, make sure you click install.

I agree, I'm jonesing pretty bad for a newer version of android lol. I'll leave that to Cyberdev though since I'm just a beginner. My preferred method of installing a rom is to boot to recovery, factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, then install zip from SD card. Enjoy (:

Once you do you should install es file explorer and use it to make backups of your apps so you don't have to download all of them again every time there's an update. Which there should be one today.

The update itself doesn't. You have to factory reset your phone and wipe both caches every time you want to install a ROM. So any apps that aren't on your SD card will be deleted. What I do is backup all my apps with es file explorer so re-installing them only takes a couple minutes. Also I make a backup of my nova setup so I don't have to change all the launcher settings and rearrange stuff on my home screens every time I install a different ROM.

Also I said there would probably be an update today, that didn't end up happening lol. I added stuff and when I tested it I was getting errors and force closes so I'm gonna have to work on it a little more. Should be ready tomorrow though!

Hey everyone, I am happy to see that there is finally development going on for this phone! I am having a problem with my front facing camera however. No matter what camera app I use, the regular back camera works but when I switch to the front camera, the phone freezes and I have to repeatedly tap the home button to leave the camera app. After that, when I try to open the app again, it says "cannot connect to camera". The camera app only works again after I have booted into recovery and wiped the dalvik. I have tried wiping (even the sdcard), reflashing and switching roms but the problem persists. I've been having this problem on this stripped rom and the rooted rom and the deodexed rom found here:

http://androidforums.com/threads/ro...-1-2-deodexed-unmodified-need-testers.875409/

It may be a problem with the B12 build for this device but I am not sure.
I would appreciate any advice or feedback, thank you.

I had the problem when I first got this phone. There was an OTA update from att and I never had the problem after that. I may be wrong but I don't think you can get updates from att when you have a custom ROM installed. I'll see if I can maybe figure out what's causing it.

I was actually able to revert completely back to stock and get the ota update. Regardless, the phone was working perfectly on all the roms I've used only until a few days ago. Now it doesn't matter if I have B11 or B12 build. The camera problem persists. Something else I've noticed, the flashlight app I use stops working every now and then. I feel like it might even be an issue with the SDCARD but it was working all this time...

Thanks for the help so far.

Hey, is it possible if someone could upload a flashable working kernel for the z998. Stock is fine. My current kernel is probably corrupted and I can't fix it with OTA or with any other roms. Also, I happened to find out that the one thing a nandroid backup doesn't backup is a kernel...:(

guys, i know this is a bit outdated now but i need some help. ive tried 9 different recovery images. anfd no matter what i do, fastboot sends the command to my phone, boots into bootloader, send fastboot img command, and it says waiting for device. nothing ever happens after that. anyone tell me why?
