Root ROMs/Kernels?

Rxpert83

Dr. Feelgood
Hey guys, my nexus will be here tomorrow, and I've got some catching up to do :). Glad to be a member of the nexus 7 community, and I hope to be a contributing one sometime soon

I see we already have a plethora of ROMS & Kernels to try out. I am pretty familiar with many of the ROMs from my other devices, but what kernel would you guys suggest starting out with? I see a few different ones(Yeah yeah, everyone's device acts differently ;))

Any other ROM/Kernel suggestions?

Other tweaks I should know about?

Check out the guide DURX put together, it's great.
Personally, I'm still on CNA 3.5 with the incl. kernel and it works just fine for me. Not as many tweaks as there is for my Gnex (running the same version), but nice and smooth. Haven't tried any other combo though. Have fun, love this little guy. :)

The atr guide? I checked that out. I just just wondering if there wad a general consensus on what kernel was "best".

This is my first nexus device. I'm enjoying all of the official support :D

CNA ran great for me up until version 3.4 and 3.5 and for some reason my tablet did not like those at all. Ran VERY sluggish and ate battery like crazy. Before 3.4 I was getting 3-4 days easily with 4+ hours of screen on time. When I used it a lot and didn't have a ton of standby time, I could get 2 days of use with 6 hours of screen on time.

I'm running AOKP B3 now and it runs great!

Grr. I didnt get home before my buildings front office closed. So now I can't get it till 10Am tomorrow.

My poor little nexus is locked in the mail closet somewhere and I can't play with it :(

Motley's kernel seems to be really popular with rom devs, as every rom I've used so far has had it.

coming in late to the game i haven't been able to watch the development of all the diferent roms and kernels for the n7. what is in your opinion the best rom and kernel, together or separate. im on stock right now and i want a kernel specifically but i might go ahead and flash a new rom also. i was looking for a cm10 but i dont really want an unofficial version. what is aokp all about?

I actually haven't even bothered to flash anything yet. Having a factory reset wipe things like my titanium backup files really put a damper on my flashing spirit.

Tried a bunch and wound up back to stock personally. Motley kernel seemed to solve the random line through the screen bug. Other than that I'm completely content running stock after fishing around
