Root Root and CWM to Stock Recovery to CWM to Root (How To)

zerog12

Newbie
This is how I got rid of the annoying OTA update that kept popping up on screen randomly every 5 to 10 minute interval ... really annoying when trying to txt, email, play a game, or just read a book :(

Ok This is for those that are not as smart as the rest of you, and need help on how to do this.... (kind of like me but i fudged through and now letting you know how i did it)

**************************************************************
** MAKE SURE TO MAKE A FULL BACKUP WITH CWM BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING **
** BE SAFE THEN SORRY! BE SMART! KEEP IT PREPARED! BE WISE! **
**************************************************************

1. Download CWM from http://androidforums.com/valiant-al...ery-clockworkmod-recovery-hwawei-y301-a1.html
(Kudos to EagerestWolf for this)

2. Download Stock System and Stock Recovery images from same thread as above, 2nd page, about 4 or 5 posts down
(Kudos to Shabbypenguin for these)

3. Now unzip both packages, and take the cwm image and the stock recovery image and put in your adb folder (dont need system.img, i didnt use it)

4. I removed my Busybox for some reason, but all worked out in the end, probably dont have to do this, but its up to you. (I did reinstall after i did the root)

5. went to fastboot on the phone (Hold down the vol down, and hold down power on for about 10 to 15 secs, should stay on the Huawei logo)
now follow EagerestWolf's directions in the same post as #1, but instead of the cwm image, put in the recovery.img you got from Shabbypenguin
after the fast reboot, install the update (update may seem like its frozen on /clearing cache.. its not, just let it be (make sure you are fully charged up and/or plugged in (preferrably 98% charged and plugged in)

6. reboot back to the fastboot, and follow EagerestWolf's instructions again, but install CWM image now...

7. after reboot run Impactor (yes, i did this and am fully rooted again)

now if everything worked, you should have the 138 update, cwm and rooted.

Im not responsible for any damages to anyones phones or bodies but my own, so please keep that in mind. as always with messing with your android, its done at your own risk.

Hope this is helpful to someone, I apologize if i not good at writing howto's, walkthroughs, or such... but if you can do better, be my guest to improve on this, but give me a little credit for trying :)

Hey guys/gals, In desperate need of help trying to get back to stock ROM. The sdcard that I backed up using CWM was stolen out of the phone ...long story dont ask. the system.img file found in step one, is that a stock image? I tried to flash it with fastboot and my PC just idles to no end... if there is other methods to do it please let me know. oh the problem I have with the phone now is that I installed a "stock"rom from this site but wifi does not work, I got it from this thread http://androidforums.com/valiant-al...rom-stock-no-root-stock-rom-without-root.html. so please help

you will need this file:
HUAWEI_Y301-A1_V100R001C85B132_MPCS.rar
*******edited on 5/16/2014 to give link to this file ,so you get the right one
http://d-h.st/P3E

It's the stock file for the valiant.
And also you will need to load on recovery.img using fastboot , orginal valiant recovery.img.

KainXS posted instructions on it either in this forum room or vitira forum room. 2 different stock roms but the instuctions are the same.

here is some stuff I copied and pasted in my own files if I need to do it again.

4 Upgrade operations
4.1 Normal upgrade
Step 1. A MICRO SD card of 1GB or more should be available. The MICRO SD card made by Sandisk, Kingstone, or Kingmax is recommended. Step 2. Format the MICRO SD card (This operation is optional). Step 3. Copy the Software: main package to a directory named dload. Step 4. Copy the entire dload folder (with UPDATE.APP in it) to the root

directory of the MICRO SD card. Step 5. Insert the MICRO SD card into the handset and power on. After entering the home screen, input *#*#2846579#*#* in keypad, ProjectMenu->5. Upgrade->1.SD card upgrade. -> confirm to start the upgrade. Reference to the following pictures

I took my valiant that I loaded cwm and carbon rom of kitkat, back to stock valiant firmware using this system. You could make a cwm backup of another valiant device and then restore it on the screwed up valiant too. I first did that and it worked. But stock firmware works.

I have tried this and will fail in step 2 / Install, even after wiping data. If you can provide a backup of your valiant I would really appreciate it

Thanks for all your help

You will have to explain your steps, because step 2 is just formatting the sd card? And this is only optional step that I did not do. So explain your steps. "This is what I did, in the order I did it". And maybe one of us can help you, to give pointer on how to fix it.

Whats there to explain?, When I put the dl folder on the root of the SD card and reboot it,(yes reboot the phone, not the computer) it will go through one of the two steps, unpacking and then its supposed to install the update, but that is when I get the error. "Failed to install"

It worked for me, going from cwm.img as recovery partition with carbon kitkat rom loaded in my valaint, to putting on orginal recovery.img back on valiant and getting the right rom, and following the guide.

woah.... I read those steps and don't see any mention of a PC.
You load files to a blank SD card.
Reboot phone.
Open dialer.
Dial that code
It opens a new menu.
Use that new menu for options.

I am about to try this myself... lemme see if the dialer code works.... brb

EDIT
yep. Looks good to me. Did you properly create the SD folder structure? Maybe someone could post that?

When you unrar the file I listed above, it automactically creates the file struction. If you have working sd card in your valiant, you don't have to format the card , just add the dload folder to the sd card, that is what I did. You just copy the dload folder over to the sd card and you are done. Just to repeat myself, make sure using fastboot you put on orginal recovery.img on the valiant first thing. (and not cwm.img)

here is the valiant orginal firmware just to make sure you get the right one:
Dev-Host - HUAWEI_Y301-A1_V100R001C85B132_MPCS.rar - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service
this is kainxs file I mentioned in my above posts.

I tried the volume up + down +power and all that happends my screen turns pink help

Perfect!
That is what is suppose to happen! :D
It is now ready for using your PC and using fastboot only if you have your bootloader unlocked. Maybe research it. I take it you are trying to get cwm on your valiant.

Also, bro, maybe tell us what you are trying to do, and if your phone is rooted, bootloader unlocked, etc. Just saying the one line sort of doesn't explain what you are trying to do, or have done.
