Root Help

I am new to rooting, and and wanted to root my device. I downloaded KingRoot and and started the root, and after a couple of tries, it rooted successfully. However, when trying to install and set up an application that requires rooting, my phone suddenly turned off. I turned it back on and found that the phone was no longer rooted. I figured it was the application's fault, and rerooted my phone, only for it to turn off again. It has now turned off and been unrooted about 3 or 4 times, in several different applications both root related and not. I'm wondering what possible solutions could be, whether rooting with a different program or something along those lines so my phone can stay rooted.

Some more details, KingRoot was not uninstalled or anything after the root was undone, and the settings also remained.

Sounds like it's only gained temporary root, and rebooting loses it. Some devices can be like that, like some of the ZTEs. What have you actually got there, make, model, carrier, Android version?

I have a Moto X, Android version 5.1, Verizon is the carrier but the phone is a family member's used phone and isn't able to be used for calling or anything.

Also, I downloaded root checker basic and it was saying that the root was successful and then saying it hadn't been done after the reboot. The random shut down also normally doesn't happen and has only been problem once rooted.

Kingo isn't going to give you a permanent root. It's a little more complicated then that and does require a PC.

If you see this
LPAS23.12-39.7-1

I might be able to help you. Root would be permanent.

Hi James, I've attempted to root via the method above, but it seems that it's not compatible with LPAS23.12-39.7-1, only LPAS23.12-39.7. Just curious, have you had success rooting that build? Thx
Yep successful on my end, with the builds listed. What part do you run into troubles? If it's just the .1 causing issues roll it back. Then root.

Hi, I'm still interested in rooting, just been busy lately.

My biggest concern with a permanent root is that when I rooted with KingoRoot it caused my phone to be extremely unstable, but while that root ended up not sticking, I am concerned that this root will stick but still make my phone reboot the way it did in my first root attempt.

Is this a valid concern or was the spontaneous turning off just something from the way KingoRoot rooted it?

Kingroot is not something i use, maybe once or twice out of countless devices and i switch to the tried and trusted SuperSU.

The best i can say is read the thread and people's posts and then decide to go for it or not. I did see others with the .1 having issues.

I don't see why you couldn't roll it back to .0 At the worst if rolling it back goes awry, you could use the Verizon repair tool. Or use Mfastboot to manually flash the files.
