Root Root is possible from stock GB!

Hey everybody, I found a way (Anyone how to root the mesmerize with gingerbread? - xda-developers) to root the stock GB 2.3.4 ROM without flashing a pre-rooted ROM via Odin. You DO have to flash CWM first, but after that, you just have to open the file in the link in CWM. I tried it last night, and so far it's worked well. It installs Superuser automatically, and root-specific apps work great. It is a pretty small file, and it only takes a minute to flash it, but don't forget to run a backup on CWM first.

i also found a whole group on facebook for samsung mesmerize people. I will be rooting my phone shortly. There's also a minimalist rom(read no crapware) available for our phones as well.

here are 3 root files for stock gingerbread. root234.zip and root234_signed.zip are from karandpr. the signed one is supposed to be able to be flashed from stock recovery, it didn't work for me. the other 2 I have tried and both work perfectly. I don't remember where I got the one called flashable root package from but I sure didnt make it.

I tried all three of these and each said signature verification failed

then you have to flash clockworkmod recovery with ODIN and flash root pkg from cwm recovery.
