Help Rooted S3 Browser Apk Problem

I uninstalled junk bloatware on my device using system apps remover and root explorer. Since then I was unable to install an apk file from my browser, a prompt always appeared showing 'Unfortunately Package Installer has stopped'. I looked at a forum to help me with my situation and I followed the steps which was to locate android browser.apk using root explorer and move it to 'system' folder, so I did just that. Then the next step in the forum was to read the permissions of the other stuff in the system folder and change the permissions on android browser so that it matches the permissions of all the other stuff there, I then rebooted my device. I went on the internet, downloaded an apk, opened itn and this time a prompt appeared saying 'Cannot open file'. Can someone please help me?!

I don't think your problem is the browser: if that is able to download the apks then it's done what a browser would be expected to do. My guess is that you damaged something else in the process of debloating.

If you took a nandroid backup before you started modifying system files, then restoring from that would be the obvious solution. If you didn't please do so before doing stuff like this again! ;)

What ROM are you using? If custom, just flashing the same ROM again (without wiping) should fix it. Otherwise, probably best we ask someone familiar with this particular device. I don't suppose you remember what it was you removed (in detail)? Of course you could always just flash a custom ROM (after backing up your apps and data, as you'll generally have to do a factory reset in the process).

Either way, it will probably help us to know which model of S3 you have (there are many different models in different countries and on different networks), and if it was bought through a carrier which one.

There is the potential that there's an issue with the apk you're trying to download, what is it/where's it from? Also, what did you remove?

Did you backup any of the apps you removed before removing them? I've never used System apps remover, but a lot of these apps recommend renaming the removed apps by suffixing .bak to the file name as opposed to a complete removal.

The thing is that removing system apps doesn't save any space compared to clearing their data, uninstalling updates and disabling them. It's just harder to fix if something goes wrong.
