Root Rootin 2.3.6 and Multi touch?

Hello i recently purchased a ascend II from cricket and was upset with the lack of multi touch. Iam new to android so iam looking for a easy step by step guide or a link to a step by step guide for rooting 2.3.6. I have done some searching but havent seen much that say there compatible with 2.3.6. I also need a root that adds multitouch and overclocks please.Thanks

i used Android SDK and Super One Click to root mine... and from my understanding, rooting will not gain you multi-touch or overclocking, you have to install a custom ROM, such as CM7, to do those things...
