Rooting A Galaxy S3

Hi, I'm interested in possibly rooting my Samsung Galaxy S3 and wondered about all of the different things that I would be able to do to it. Past experiences would be cool to hear about, and if you currently have a phone rooted what can you do to it?

One of the main reasons people root their phones is to install custom ROMs.
Others do it so they can overclock or underclock their CPUs.
